World Snooker Tour (WST) is announcing a new partnership with Smart Energy GB, which will bring important messaging about the benefits of smart meters to the snooker community and help fans across Great Britain take control of their energy bills.
Smart Energy GB is the independent, non-profit organisation helping households access the benefits of smart meters.
The partnership enables WST to engage its fans beyond the snooker table by providing practical support to local communities. It reinforces the Tour’s commitment to socially responsible initiatives and highlights WST as an organisation that cares about the lives of its audience both on and off the table.
The partnership will launch at the Players Championship in Telford this month and will feature activations across selected World Snooker Tour events throughout the season.
As part of the collaboration, Smart Energy GB and WST will deliver a dedicated community programme to snooker clubs across Great Britain. The programme will provide clubs with informative sessions on energy management and the benefits of smart meters in the home, helping local communities better understand their energy use and stay in control of household costs. The initiative is expected to reach clubs across the country over the course of the year.
WST’s Chief Commercial Officer Peter Wright said: “Through this partnership we’ll be able to reach out to the snooker community across Great Britain and provide them with advice and tools to help them stay in control of their energy costs. We have seen the work that Smart Energy GB has done in other sports, including football and darts, and we feel we can work together to achieve shared goals. We recognise that fans are at the heart of everything we do and we want to bring benefits to their communities where we have that opportunity, helping people to keep money in their pockets.”
Smart Energy GB’s Deputy Director of Specialist Audiences Phillippa Brown said: “World Snooker Tour understands how important community initiatives are to fans of the sport. By joining forces with them through this partnership, we will help people all over the country to understand the benefits of having a smart meter installed in their home, as well as how to access support and information that could help them save money on their energy bills.”
